The Friends are happy to fund the following on an annual basis for Tracy Memorial Library.
- Sponsor the children’s summer reading program, serving over 175 local children each year.
- Sponsor the teen summer reading program and the adult summer reading program.
- Produce the popular Tracings newsletter distributed to New London residents twice per year, sharing the interesting happenings at the Library.
- Present and fund author events, lectures, entertainment and other programs throughout the year at the library.
- Maintain the membership for many digital resources for use by library patrons, including Mango Languages, Heritage quest Geneaology, Encyclopedia Britannica, Instaflix Movies, and Freegal Music.
- Purchase a yearly subscription to the weekly publication, BookPage, for our patrons to enjoy copies of their own to take home.
- Co-sponsor the Family Magic Show during New London Winter Carnival.
- Issue free passes to our patrons for area museums and attractions, including the Currier Museum of Art, Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum, The Fells, VINS, and the Christa McAuliffe Center.
In addition to all the programs and resources that the Friends fund, we choose one Special Project to complete for the Library each year. Here is a list of the Special Projects funded by the Friends of Tracy Memorial Library over the last 10 years.
- 76 new lightweight and comfortable chairs for the Tracy Meeting Room
- New window treatments for the Tracy Meeting Room
- 8 new children’s oak chairs for the Tomie de Paola Room
- New beautiful wooden listening center for the Tomie de Paola Room
- Create and furnish a Teen Center on the first floor of the Library
- New beautiful book display area across from the Friends Corner
- Twelve new upholstered chairs for the Tracy Reading Room
- Two new upholstered chairs and new window seats for the Stack Room
- Conference/work table and six chairs for the Stack Room
- New, updated audio visual system and carpeting for the Tracy Meeting Room
- Complete renovation of the AVI Computer Room, including new shelving, carpeting, electrical work, painting and decor.
